Linear equations with two variables

Equations can also have several unknowns. When two values (e.g. $x$ and $y$) are not known in a linear equations, they are called linear equations with two variables. Each linear equation with two variables can be put into the following form:

$ax+by=c$

$a$, $b$ and $c...$ real numbers
$x$ and$y...$ unknown variables

!

Remember

Two linear equations with two variables can be solved with a system of linear equations.

Examples

Linear equations with two variables

$3x+7y=10$
$-4x+2y=-18$
$3a+2b-6=12$
